Pinball predates video games by more than a century. The spring-loaded plunger mechanism dates to 1871, when British inventor Montague Redgrave patented an improved bagatelle table. The modern flipper appeared in 1947, introduced by Harry Mabs at Gottlieb under the game Humpty Dumpty. Before flippers, players could only nudge the machine. Flippers turned pinball from a game of chance into a game of skill. A 2010 study in the journal Acta Psychologica found that fast-paced action games improve visuomotor control and reaction time, two abilities that pinball demands constantly. Our browser version captures that same tactile challenge. Launch the ball, work the flippers, and keep it alive. Start a game now.
You hold Space until the plunger reaches full charge, then release. The ball rockets up the right lane and scores a 2000 point skill shot bonus. It enters the bumper field at high speed, ricocheting between all four bumpers for 400 more points before dropping toward the flippers.
The ball rolls left across the upper playfield and clips the left drop target bank. Three targets fall in succession. The ball bounces off a slingshot and crosses right, hitting the remaining three targets. All six are down. You score 5000 plus 3000 in target hits. The targets reset and the ball drops back into play.
The ball heads straight down the middle between both flippers. You press the left flipper. The ball clips the tip and deflects right. It hits the right slingshot and bounces back up toward the bumpers. You saved the ball with a single well-timed tap.

Harry Mabs designed the first flipper pinball machine, Humpty Dumpty, released by Gottlieb in 1947. It had six flippers arranged in pairs. Before that, players could only nudge the table to influence the ball.
Hold Space to build up plunger power. A meter fills from 0 to 100 percent. Release Space to launch the ball with force proportional to the charge. A full charge triggers a 2000 point skill shot bonus.
Clearing all six drop targets in one ball awards a 5000 point bonus. The targets immediately reset, so you can clear them again for another bonus. Each individual target also scores 500 points when hit.
Yes. The game includes on-screen LEFT FLIP, PLUNGER, and RIGHT FLIP buttons. Tap and hold the plunger button to charge, then release to launch. The flipper buttons work like the keyboard keys.
Pinball tests your reflexes, your timing, and your nerve. Every flipper tap matters. Every bumper hit piles on points. Launch the ball, keep it alive, and chase your highest score. Press Space to start playing now.
