Battleship

Battleship is a classic two-player naval strategy game where each player hides a fleet of ships on a grid and takes turns guessing coordinates to find and sink the opponent's ships. You can't see where the enemy ships are — you must deduce their locations based on hits and misses. The first player to sink all opposing ships wins. It's a game of logic, probability, and pattern recognition.

1. First, place your five ships on your grid by clicking cells. Press R to rotate between horizontal and vertical.
2. Once all ships are placed, the battle begins.
3. Click a cell on the enemy grid to fire a shot.
4. Red marks show hits, gray marks show misses.
5. After your shot, the CPU fires back at your grid.
6. Sink all five enemy ships before they sink yours to win.

• Each player has 5 ships: Carrier (5), Battleship (4), Cruiser (3), Submarine (3), Destroyer (2).
• Ships cannot overlap or be placed diagonally.
• Players take turns firing one shot per turn.
• A ship is sunk when all its cells are hit.
• The game ends when one player's entire fleet is sunk.

• Use a checkerboard pattern for your shots — it's the most efficient way to find ships.
• When you get a hit, fire at the four adjacent cells to determine the ship's orientation.
• Once you know a ship's direction, continue firing along that line to sink it.
• Place your own ships away from edges — beginners often fire at edges first.
• Spread your ships out rather than clustering them together.
• Track which ship sizes remain — a 2-cell gap can only hide the destroyer.

• Classic (10x10): Standard grid with 5 ships.
• Large (12x12): Expanded grid with 6 ships including a Frigate. More space, more strategy.
• Salvo: Fire as many shots per turn as you have surviving ships.
