Crazy Eights is a classic card-shedding game and the inspiration behind UNO. Players take turns matching cards by suit or rank, with eights serving as wild cards that let you change the current suit. The goal is to be the first player to empty your hand. Simple to learn but with enough strategy to keep things interesting, Crazy Eights has been a family favorite for generations.
The discard pile shows a 5 of Hearts. You play the 5 of Clubs, changing the active suit to Clubs.
You don't have any Clubs or Jacks, but you have an 8 — you play it and switch to Diamonds, where you hold three cards.
Play Crazy Eights free in your browser against a computer opponent. No account needed — just match cards, play your eights strategically, and try to empty your hand first.
UNO was inspired by Crazy Eights but adds special action cards (Skip, Reverse, Draw Two, etc.) and uses a custom deck. Crazy Eights uses a standard 52-card deck with eights as the only wild card.
If the draw pile is empty and you can't play a card, you pass your turn. In some versions, the discard pile is reshuffled to form a new draw pile.
Crazy Eights is the original card-matching game that inspired a genre. Quick, strategic, and endlessly replayable — grab your cards and be the first to go out.
