Suguru is a Japanese-style number logic puzzle made from irregular regions. Each region contains every number from 1 through its cell count once. Equal numbers also cannot touch, including diagonally. A two-cell region therefore uses 1 and 2, while a five-cell region uses 1 through 5. The region size controls the number range, and the neighborhood rule carries information across region borders. Fill the compact practice board above and check every neighbor before moving on.

1. Open Suguru and read the clues before placing anything. Count the cells in each outlined region to learn its allowed numbers.
2. Click an open cell to cycle through candidate values.
3. Place each value once per region, then inspect all eight neighboring cells for duplicates.
4. Use a completed small region to remove that number from touching cells in other regions.
5. Continue until every region has its full set and no equal neighbors remain.

• Use diagonal neighbors, not just orthogonal neighbors. Suguru's eight-cell neighborhood is the main difference from Sudoku.
• If a region already contains a value, remove that value from every other cell in the region.
• A high value has fewer homes in a small region and often becomes forced near an equal neighbor.
• Mark a candidate only after checking both its own region and every surrounding cell.
• Mark certain information first. A forced cell removes more candidates than a guess and gives you a reliable next step.
• When two candidates remain, compare both against the row, column, region, and neighbor restrictions before committing.
• Keep a small mental record of what a clue still needs. Revisiting that count after each placement often reveals a move that was hidden at the start.
