Japanese puzzle maker Naoki Inaba invented Aquarium in 2004 under the name Aqua Place. The puzzle divides a grid into outlined tanks and asks you to fill cells with level water while matching row and column totals. It exercises spatial reasoning because gravity controls every region: water cannot float above air inside one tank. Line clues then connect separate regions into one count system. A confirmed water cell sits in row 3 of a tall region that also occupies rows 4 and 5 below it. You immediately fill every cell of that region on those lower rows. The extra cells complete row 5's clue, so all other unknown cells in row 5 become dry.
One aquarium occupies three separated cells in row 2 because its outline bends around another region. Those three cells share a level. Row 2 needs only two more water cells, so the three-cell group cannot fill. You mark all three dry and, by gravity's reverse implication, mark the region's higher cells dry too.
A region has only two possible surfaces left. The higher option would add two cells to a column that needs only one, so you reject it. The lower option fills the tank's bottom cells and leaves its upper cells dry. All row and column totals now match, completing the puzzle.
